The Tepper School of Business has a track record of success delivering high-quality, engaging online degree programs on par with its on-campus programs. Its Online MBA has a #5 ranking from U.S. News & World Report and #2 ranking from Poets&Quants for Best Online MBA programs.
Tepper School faculty are skilled at teaching both online and on-campus students. They developed the MS in Business Analytics program to provide online students with a learning environment that not only matches the on-campus experience, but also mirrors the business world, where employers increasingly expect and value the ability to work on virtual or remote teams.
The online learning platform used by students in the MSBA program is the Canvas learning management system. It serves as a hub for faculty and students and is the portal through which students access both asynchronous and synchronous coursework.
Asynchronous Coursework
Asynchronous learning activities include viewing videos and slide presentations developed by the course instructor, working on projects and cases, practicing skills, reading textbooks and articles, participating in discussion boards and taking quizzes.
Students complete coursework on their own schedule, but must adhere to assignment deadlines. At the end of each course, students retain access to course material, but on a read-only basis.
Synchronous Coursework
Weekly live sessions, conducted via the Vidyo video conferencing platform, emphasize collaborative exercises and group discussions. Students get to know each other and our faculty through direct interaction. They may examine a case or learn an interesting methodology in depth.
Live sessions take place in the evening and last 75 minutes. Students are expected to review course material prior to the session and come prepared to engage fully in all activities.
Additionally, faculty members and teaching assistants hold virtual office hours every week.
Time Commitment
Every six-unit course requires approximately 65 hours of work. Each week, students typically spend five hours watching videos, reading cases and preparing for live sessions, and three hours working on assignments and assessments.
